AQUAPOLIS 2100

AQUAPOLIS 2100 is a participatory animation project that explores New York City’s rising sea levels, which could increase by 6 feet by the year 2100. In summer 2018, the artists invited visitors to Governor’s Island to draw what they imagine NYC might look like in 2100 and sketch ideas — both practical and fantastical — about what they could do to deal with the rising water level. This video piece features animations of these drawings set in the backdrop of an increasingly watery New York. Sound by Joel Hamburger.
