Ascendance (2015)
Laura Chipley
Single-channel video installation, 12 minutes
Ascendance chronicles the radical transformation of Hunter's Point South days after the commencement of a large scale development project. Filmed using a drone, the film offers a perspective on the New York City skyline that will one day be seen exclusively from the residential towers that will be built on the site. This work was created as part of Chance Ecologies - curatorial and research initiative that explores art practice within post-industrial ecosystems - and has been exhibited at Radiator Gallery and the Queens Museum.
